Spinning around

Last weekend, we decided to get away from it all and spend a couple of days on the west coast. The plan was to go kite flying in Troon, but when we got there, there wasn’t as much wind as was forecast, and the tide was in.

Still, the Kylie concert in the evening and watching the British Grand Prix at the Odeon cinema at Braehead on the Sunday made up for the disappointment.

Normal picture service will resume once I have found the camera, and don’t have to use my mobile…

The Key Day

And finally, one year on, we have the keys. We had a wander round the house this evening, and it looks great! Bits and pieces still to do, but cosmetic.

We now have a plan of action which involves moving our belongings out of storage within the week.

The clock has now stopped.

Kitchen doors ready waiting to be attached. Things are moving so fast now that this photo was taken on Wednesday, and today (Thursday) they are attached to the units in the kitchen.

Measurements were taken for a bespoke granite worktop today, and should be in place on Wednesday next week.

Keys on Friday 31st (supposedly). A year to the day since the deposit.

We both got into the house today. The plasterer was there. He said he was due to finish today, the plumber was coming in tomorrow (Sunday), and the joiner was coming on Monday.

End of the month looks promising even though the toilet cisterns are currently sitting in the kitchen!

Espionage

Alison went along during the week and fluttered her eye lashes at the builders, and got a small tour of the inside of the house. It has a fair amount of electrical and plumbing done, and they were putting in plasterboard downstairs.

…one non-leaky suburban detached dwelling.

Seems our strongly worded letter has done the trick, and we are now meant to be in the house by the 30th May. Last week, this looked quite impossible, but now that the scaffolding is down, and the windows and front door is in, and some of the lecky work looks to have been done, it appears more plausible.

Rock on the end of the month!
